I'm asking for your support to become the SNP candidate for Edinburgh Eastern, Musselburgh and Tranent.
I already represent a large part of the constituency as a councillor - so I know it well and have good relationships with local people and organisations.
As your Member of the Scottish Parliament I would build on that foundation - being present locally, growing relationships across the constituency with community groups and helping local people.
I'd also work hard developing national policy to improve everyone's lives, right across Scotland.
And every action I would take as your MSP would work to build the case for independence.
I became involved in politics during the independence referendum. Campaigning during 2014 gave me hope that we could build a fairer society and a better democracy through independence.
The result in 2014 devastated me, but it had also changed me forever. I began working for local MP Tommy Sheppard, and then stood for the council in 2017, getting elected as the SNP councillor for Portobello Craigmillar.
The SNP led the council for the first time ever in our capital city, and I became the Housing, Homelessness and Fair Work Convener. I'm very proud to have led the charge asking the Scottish Government for changes we needed to better control Airbnb style short term lets. The planning and licensing controls that are being implemented now will make a huge difference to the city.
I spearheaded the campaign for Edinburgh to become a Living Wage City. I also set up the Homelessness Task Force to listen to the voices of front line workers and people with lived experience, to deliver badly needed changes for homeless people.
After the election in 2022 the SNP were locked out of power by a unionist coalition of Labour, the Tories and Lib Dems. In opposition I chair the scrutiny committee, holding the administration to account for the damaging decisions they have made which are making resident's lives harder.
